    Default Published site

I'm a newbie and I just published my first site at 8:15 Tuesday night. When can I expect it to be up on the internet. Is there a way to test it with WHB to make sure it was uploaded correctly and everything is ok. I don't want to find out in a few days that I need to do it over.

    Thanks

You should see your site immediately after you publish it. If you don't, then you may have named the files wrong, or you still have the default file in your public_html directory. Give us your URL and we'll check it out.

What do you mean I may still have the default file in the public_html directory. This is the folder the file was uploaded to but I didin't know I was supposed to do something with it after publishing.

Can you email me your cpanel login details at sm@webhostingbuzz.com and I would personally look into your website account.

Default how quickly does your site appear

I just established an account yesterday, and could immediately access the site by IP number, but it took several hours before I could access it by name. That wasn't too surprising to me, In the distant past (last century), it took days...

    Default default index.html ...

... I just put up a Wordpress blog, and also found that I needed to remove or rename the index.html file, so that the index.php file would be used on loading the homepage.

Yep that is what is needed to be done if you want the blog to load by default.

Welcome aboard by the way. How has the experience been so far?

Ok, I saw the index.html listed on some other documents also. When I published my site, I put in Home.html since that's the name of the page I want to show when loaded. Do I need to change this?

Yes please change it to index.html (small letters) or index.htm and the main page should start loading just fine.

Did you get email with the cpanel info. I may just try publishing my site again today, using a different file to see if that is the problem. That still doesn't explain not being able to get into the help desk.

I went through the process again and received no error messages from my software. The publish report shows the files being transferred ok. I still can't see anything.

Is there a way WHB can look at my account and the public_html folder to make sure everything is ok?

I'd rather not keep publishing the site over and over if what I'm doing is ok.

If you email me you username and password at sm@webhostingbuzz.com I can login into your account to see if everything is ok or not.

I've now been working with tech support. My domain was not pointed toward the WHB server so they have to change my domains NS to somethinig else, which they said would take 48 hours. They gave me another address to go into to view my files in cpanel. So hopefully it will be all fixed by Monday or even tomorrow.

Once it's up and running, do I then need to go in and set up the email accounts. Sorry for all the questions. I'm a graphic designer, not a Web guy.
