Default IP Blocked - Suggestions for Avoiding This Happening in the Future?

Over the last 2 months, every time I try to backup my files via FTP, my IP gets blocked and I can't FTP or even view my Web site until WBH goes in and unblocks. I then continue backing up files, and it inevitably locks up again. Then, I wait another few hours for WBH to look at the ticket and unblock it again. I've asked repeatedly for guidance on how to avoid this from happening, to no avail. (I got one suggestion that I should use a different FTP program and change a couple of settings - which I did, but it didn't help.) Surely, I should be able to back up my site without having to go through this every time.....

Any guidance from others? I've been blocked now since last night with a couple of back and forths with tech support, and the ticket system (ticket EDC-104756) doesn't seem to be working in getting answers to that question. Even when they've finally unblocked my IP (hopefully they'll do it soon!), I fear it won't be long before it is blocked again once I attempt to back up my site. And I'm getting no answers from WBH. Hopefully, folks here have some suggestions. Thanks!

I have never had my IP blocked for using FTP. The fact that you keep getting blocked is suspicious. It makes me wonder if you (or your software) is making multiple connections. Especially when transferring large files such as cPanel backups, multiple connections could tap a lot of system resources, causing you to get blocked.

    Thanks for the reply.

I have tried different software - all set not to do multiple connections, but to no avail. Realizing that I may be missing something, I have asked WBH for more guidance - even telling me which to use, but it's still not working. I have used cyberduck (user friendly) and crossFTP (WBH recommendation - but not so user-friendly). Any recommendations for another piece of software or a place to specifically check settings, in case I'm missing something?

Are you behind a hardware router or firewall which might be doing something? Are you using a software firewall or download optimizer on your PC?
