(Ask) VPS package Vs Reseller package questions

Hi,

I have encountered a suspension on one of domains in my reseller account because of overload in server (resource-intensive). I plan to take VPS but I don't know about VPS. These are my questions :
1. What are the differences between VPS and reseller package?
2. What are the advantages and disadvantages between VPS and reseller package
3. Will I encounter the same problem if I take one VPS package and still use my old web scripts? I know my site has more visitors lately and it consumes server resources.
4. How to know that my site consumes server resources & how to control it?

1. The main difference between VPS and reseller package is, that on a VPS
you won`t ever depend on other resellers and their customers.

I am plan to get VPS if i able to get more customer.

By the way, I have a question would like to take this opurtunities to ask here.

If not mistaken, 1 phisical server actually have few ore more VPS account holder right?

How if the other VPS account holder having resource intensive/ make the server overload? Will this happen?

Hi calvynlee,

You are right, there are several (up to 10) VPS accounts on one physical server, but
NONE of them influences others, because each VPS client has it`s own virtualized environment.
Furthermore, in case some client needs his VPS to be rebooted, we reboot
ONLY the VPS, not the whole physical server.

So having chosen a VPS, you`ll forget about downtime and overloads.

In what casses are reboot needed?

I almost forget that I might need PHP V 5.x since I will need simple XML functions and SOAP extension is disabled and I will use nusoap class as replace. Is it possible to have such configuration? Or can I add/remove any extension that I might use or might not used? Should I do that by my self or WHB supports can do that for me? sometimes this confuses me since I'm still learning PHP.

Generally the servers need to be rebooted in order to take down the overload,
if it`s unable to be done via console (for instance some of your clients are running scripts, which cause an overload and even don`t let you get to the server via SSH.

Servers are also rebooted for maintenance - software upgrades, kernel or webserver rebuilds and so on.

Anyway, our technicians can always take care of it. As well as of your PHP.
Such a configuration is fine for a VPS server, so there`s nothing to be worried about.
Though once again, you can always contact our technicians for prompt and qualified support.

If one of the VPS account hosted a lot of domain name, and also a lot of traffic, so to heavy CPU usage and memory usage with some script. Appear resource intensive at that VPS account.

Does other VPS account in the same server get affected?

I, at last, have taken VPS account. The technical support is by far the best... but the billing support is really SUCK... I need to upgrade to Gold as i need more memory.. I have asked for invoice but no response yet for 24 hours... this dissatisfied me a lot...
