    Default WHB Going Green(er)

Looking ahead to our 2010 New Year's Resolution here at WebHostingBuzz, we'd like to improve our industry-leading green initiatives and come up with a few more industry-firsts to help out the environment.

Do you have any ideas on what we can do to become a green(er) company? Post below!

Thumbs up Plant a Tree for Hadassah

I think your decision to go green is great! And planting trees is a perfect way to do that.

I am the webmaster for the Brevard County Chapter of Hadassah (http://hadassahbrevard.org), Melbourne, FL, and they are kicking off the "Hadassah Goes Green Month" and have obtained Proclamations from all the city Mayors in Brevard County. The Proclamations are prominently displayed on their site and I think it would be great if WHB got involved by purchasing several trees at $13.00 each, which will be planted in Israel.

If you would like to learn more, contact Lois Felder at loisvpc@gmail.com.

BTW, I host their site on my WHB Reseller account.

This is definitely something we'll consider. Expect to hear from us shortly.

    Matt,
Sorry about the error. These trees will be planted in Israel. However, native trees will also be planted in local city parks. See schedule at http://hadassahbrevard.org/pdf/09green-schedule.pdf

What about your power backup solution? Is it a diesel powered generator or a natural gaz one?

BTW we're pretty proud to be hosted by you guys! We posted it in our blog

They are diesel generators. We don't own the facility, we just have a suite there so we have to go with what they provide us. With that said, I know they are some of the most economical gensets around.

Good point! Diesel is still better than regular fuel when it comes to the environment + unless I'm totally wrong, those engine can also run on bio-diesel.

Let see... What about UPS batteries? Are those recycled or refurbished?

They are replaced every 2 years and as part of the contract, the old ones are recycled by the contracter.
