I'm pretty sure this is a repost.

Nope, this links to a separate blog entry. Yesterday I wrote about the rumours of an impending new model. Today the model was officially launched, and we now have some verified specs and features.

They emailed me about this. It looks pretty good but I had a bad experience with my first XPS. I'm probably going to stick to Sony or Lenovo when renewal time comes around.

What laptop does everyone else use?

Lenovos have certainly had a pretty solid track record, but Sony's quality and reliability have been no better than Dell and their support is much worse. (based on independent data from Consumer Reports)

I still use my Dell a bit and my 6/7 year old IBM T42p is still going strong. It's the spare laptop for friends/visitors etc. Works fine but battery needs replacing.

Dell have had to come out to my XPS M1330 twice, both for a motherboard replacement. The first was under warranty and the second I had to pay for. They responded reasonably fast but I had to go through their less-than-fun support centers.

My 2 year old Sony had some issues when I first bought it which were mostly down to me trying to install Win 7 x64 which not all the hardware supported. I took it back within a couple of weeks to a Sony Center and they replaced it like-for-like with no questions asked... Haven't needed support since then, it's run flawlessly.
