Default Do you purchase your domain name from your server provider?

    Hi friends,

I just have this confusion that where do you usually get a domain? And if you always purchase your domain name from your server/web hosting provider too?
    Thanks for your sharing.

If you were to Google "domain registrars", one of the top results you will find is the official ICANN domain registrar list. These are the companies that are legally allowed to register domain names to others.
The biggest and most popular domain registrar is Godaddy.
Personally I think it's best to not register your domain name through your web hosting company. Too many eggs in one basket sort of thing, nothing against WHB or any other hosting provider.

Getting a domain requires registering your name online. I heard it way back that GoDaddy makes registering domain names fast, and affordable.

GoDaddy is no faster than other registrars. That post sounds more like a commercial to me.

There are many choices available. If you're registering just one or two domain names, then any legitimate registrar is fine. If you plan to register many domain names, or want to manage many for friends, clients, a business, etc., then you may prefer one with good tools for managing many domain names. I chose eNom several years ago because it has many features that aid management of multiple domain names, and allow you to resell if you wish. Nowadays there are likely competitors with similar services, so check out a few before you choose.
I am not WHB staff and I am not paid.

I do, yes. I've never had any problems so far though.

I mostly used godaddy & 1&1 registrars for purchasing domains. Godaddy domain control panel or user interface is easy as compared to 1&1.

In getting a domain you must register first and payment.
