    Question vbulletin

    Hello,

I've a question. Is vbulletin allowed on WHB and what is your policy for it? As far as I know nulled versions of vbulletin are available.

No don't worry, I am not going to use vbulletin. I am using myBB. Just asking for general information

We allow vBulletin, but it is licensed software so you will need to acquire a license to use it.

It is worth noting that the ShoutBox module for vBulletin is a commonly exploited module, and is often disabled for security reasons.

I think you have vb confused with some other app, as there is no shoutbox module in vb.

There are a few aftermarket mods that add one, but none of these are currently labeled as a security risk. Of course, if you know something, let the mod site vbulletin.org know and they will suspend distribution if the author doesn't fix the vulnerability immediately.

A security risk in any forum app - vbulletin itself or a shoutbox - would be to allow users to post HTML. Don't do it.

There is actually a shoutbox module for vbulletin. I used it for a while then took it down. I was scared what it would do to the server load.

There are several more on vb.org that are less intense. Haven't tried those yet, but may after 3.7 gold comes out.

I would hope they would allow vbulletin, lol, they use it for these forums. I've been running it on 2 of my sites no problems (yes I have 2 licenses).

It wouldn't be the first time I've been wrong, but I just checked again at vb.com and there are only two modules available - Project Tools and Blog. There is no shoutbox.

I already pointed out there are several independent shoutbox mods.

PS You could be waiting a while yet for 3.7. They don't seem to be in any big hurry. One of my licenses has already expired, now I think they're waiting for the other one to go.

Yes I am talking about a 3rd party module that a lot of the sites have run. I think it was pulled for a while, not sure what ever happened to it.

Beta 6 is about to come out. I have been messing around with the Beta version and I like it a lot. I was actually able to get rid of some of the 3rd party mods. I just wish they would hurry so I can start tweaking it.

I also wish the server would already come back online. Been down for 3 hours now, can't access my sites or e-mails and no help from support. So now I am really playing the waiting game, lmao.
