Question Clearing Things Up Before I (possibly) Buy Hosting

I've been looking at buying hosting for a few months now from you, I've been reading reviews, checking speed and uptime of sites hosted here and that.

A friend of mine went to buy hosting from you yesterday. He told me that you need a credit card. I don't have a credit card and I know with PayPal you can connect a bank account to it and transfer money to your PayPal account and buy things with that. That's the method I was going to use except he said that you HAVE to buy with a credit card. It's the whole 2checkout thing that's confusing us.

So anyway, can I actually buy hosting with you using funds from my PayPal account? To put it simply, going to my bank and puting money in it, transfering it to my PayPal account and then paying with it straight from my PayPal account.

If you don't get me, basically I mean paying without a credit card. We're from Australia by the way so I gather any postal method wouldn't happen.

If it's a yes, I will ask a couple other questions I wanted to know first!

    Hi Stephen,

We do use 2Checkout to process our payments at this point in time. 2Checkout does indeed support Paypal, so you may place your initial order and all following payments by using your Paypal account.

If your friend has been with us for a while, he may have joined when 2Checkout did not support Paypal as a payment option.

    Hope that helps!

    Thanks

Now that that's cleared up, I have a few questions.

Are the sitepoint techy, smashing magazine and the FMH plans actually there to buy? I was thinking of buying the sitepoint techy one if I can. And if I can buy one of them, does it count towards the affiliate program?

I read somewhere that you can't chmod anything to 777, only 755. Is this true and will it have any real affect when I'm installing anything?

From reading reviews on here and other sites, I've found that people think its good quality. I'm going to start off by having 1 Joomla site which will be getting mybb added to it in a few months. I'm also going to make a personal site/blog using Joomla at some stage. Sometime in the future I'm also going to make a Joomla resource site (including my templates, components etc) of course using Joomla (if you haven't figured it out yet I'm a joomla nut :P). Will the server be able to handle it all?

If there's anything else I need to know, just tell me!

    Thanks in advance!

    Hi

    1. You can buy Sitepoint Techy at http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/websit...epoint-special

    2. For affiliate related questions and clarifications kindly email affiliates@webhostingbuzz.com.

    3. I would let the member of the technical team respond regarding CHMOD. As far as I am concerned you should be able to do 777 as some popular scripts require it.

    4. We actually know a person (who also posts here) who happens to be a moderator on Joomla forums so the big J is not new. Also you should be seeing few tutorials regarding the script and you would be more than welcome to share the templates or components with the community if you wish.

You can buy prepaid visa gift cards at mobil stations, according to google. If that's easier than transferring to a paypal account, you could use that.

Before I ask one last thing, PayPal says it's expected to be done on Tuesday so I'll finally be buying hosting soon.

One question, will I be able to choose my own cPanel username instead of the first 8 letters of my domain I register with? I'm going to be having 3 sites hosted on my account hopefully by the end of the year, the other 2 just addon domains. If there is a PHP error on one and it should like home/first8lettersofdomain/public_html/anaddondomain, I'd rather just have my stephenj as my username. It doesn't entirely bother me if I can't, just that the host I'm on now let me and it would look better if I could!

Thanks! Can't wait until Tuesday by the way.

    Hi Stephen,

I see from your other thread you have signed up and your site is working now. How has the first month been??

    Cheers,
    Aaron

It's been great! I haven't had any problems and it's quite fast. I've recommended it to a few people now.
