    Default Pre-sales and post-sales

I'm a calm guy....not a complainer by nature. Just pointing a few things out.

Pre-sales told me that webhostingbuzz supported WebDAV (WebDAV is an alternative to FTP). Actually, they told me that more than once that this was the case.

Post-sales....nope. WebDAV doesn't work, and the support staff says that it isn't supported on the server that my site was put on.

Sales also needs to communicate with Support on other matters. The "welcome" e-mail sent from sales to new customers contains inaccuracies, and needs to be updated (see examples below). Information on certain WHM menus was simply inaccurate (or out-of-date) and information on how the reseller account was set up was not accurate (amount of space allotted to the initial domain name, etc.). The exact passages are quoted below.

Just wanted to say...the choir (Sales and Support) needs to be singin' the same song, guys.

    Just call me....A new reseller.....maybe

Passages in the welcome e-mail that are inaccurate (edited to obscure account information):

    Welcome e-mail says this:

    *****************************
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    Web Host Manager Quicky
    ------------------------------------------------------------------------
    To Create a new account:

To access your Web Host Manager, use the following address:

    http://xx.yy.zz.xyz:wxyz
    or
    https://xx.yy.zz.xyz:wxyz/

    Username: user-name-goes-here
    Password: password-goes-here

    Web Server Name:

First thing you need to do is scroll down on the left and click on 'Add
Package' so that you can create your own hosting packages. You cannot install a domain onto your account without a package created.

    1. - click on 'Create a New Account' from the left hand side menu
    2. - put the domain in the 'Domain' box (no www or http or spaces -
just domainname.com). After putting in the domain, it will automatically
    create a username.

    3. - Your package selection should one that you created earlier
    4. - Then press the create button
    *****************************

    My commentary:

The problem with this instruction is that it does not correspond with what happens when you do what the instructions say. If you click 'Create New Account', in step 1, it does NOT take you to a place where you can do steps 2-4. The information is out-of-date or inaccurate, and (paralyzingly) confusing to a newcomer.

    From the welcome e-mail:

    *****************************
    Your Domain Information:

    Domain: domain-goes-here.com
    Ip: xx.yy.zz.xyz
    Username: logon-goes-here
    Password: password-goes-here

Starting Space for this domain: 50 megs. If you need more space, that
will deduct from your {{space}} allotted for your client accounts.
    *****************************

    My commentary:

This was not the way my reseller account was actually set up. All of the space was allotted to the initial domain name, not 50 megs. Again, what customers are told in the welcome e-mail, and what they see on the computer screen, do not agree. They really should agree.

WebDAV is supported, it may need to be enabled on the server which your account is on.

I tried it for my site and it doesn't seem to work (www.mikesinterweb.com). Should I put in a ticket for it to be turned on for my server?

Looks like my server doesn't have the correct version of Apache (it has 1.3.32)

    Hello,

WEBDAV module is supported only for apache version 2 and higher, currently cpanel 11 and 10 supports only apache version 1.x. Support apache 2 announced cpanel only in EDGE version of cpanel.
Is it possible to get to version 2?

    Thanks.

Apache 2 support is coming, but there's no definite ETA. A lot of it is pending action from cPanel..

I would like webdav to be supported on my server. That was one of the primary reasons for moving my hosting service to webhostingbuzz. What do I need to do ?

Oh, that thought alone makes me want to push for an ETA...

Yes, but please don't put anything but a stable release of cPanel on the servers! We have enough glitches even when they are supposedly "stable". It's better to wait ...

CPANEL is a crazy software. No upgrade goes smoothly to be honest. I am always almost not happy when we have to upgrade.

If I could I would rather run the server without the control panel or the one with minimum glamor but then there is commercialism factor which comes into play and we basically have to board the same ship.
