Default Time for a new cpanel theme?

This is a new theme just implemented at another host. Notice the easy access to the things in the left panel like CPU usage, memory usage, and Program Paths.

It's too new for me to know if it will be particularly useful, but it sure seems like a great idea to put this most commonly needed data right out there where people can get to to it easily.

It's not hugely different from the theme I'm already using on WHB (x3?). X3 already has disk usage, bandwidth usage, etc. in the left column.

What I'd prefer is a less graphical theme, more text based with use of lists of grouped functions. There were themes like that a couple of years ago, but cPanel dropped them in favour of all these needlessly cryptic icons that serve only to take up unnecessary amounts of screen real estate, causing more scrolling, and require more downloading and rendering time.

No way. I have X3 too, and it lacks all these nifty things like CPU and "show all processes".

It's Hostgator. Hey, I went to a lot of trouble to blur all that out so someone didn't yell at me for advertising.

They also recently removed the bandwidth and disk space limits from all accounts. Instead, they're depending on the TOS, CPU, inode usage, etc. to limit accounts.

I have a reseller account. Perhaps that is the difference.

I don't really want to follow that model. Yes, they have the size and bulk so things average out but at the end of they day, if they are usign Xeon 3060 servers with 1TB Drives there is a real physical limit imposed by the servers.

Keep any theme suggestions coming in though. We have a WHB one about 50% done that will be branded on shared accounts, and unbranded on reseller. This will include some cooler features. Should be ready for early next year.

"Cooler features" may be nice, but I'd prefer a faster, lighter-weight theme.

I think it would be a good idea to have a "light" version as well as a fully themed one, for the bandwidth conscious of us. I definitely like the javascript "search" box, it's extremely useful. I would like to see updates in the cPanel box that WHB would actually use. I like WHB, and the WHB brand, so I think a WHB branded cPanel isn't a bad idea at all. Another company to look at is hostmonster. They have a login on their home page based on user name and password, it's an easy way to access the cPanel, and also other services they offer. It would be great for WHB to have this kind of integration so that once logged in, I can visit these forums, my cPanel, etc, without separate information.

    Good luck WHB!

Matt R: THANK YOU! As much as "unmetered" sites sound nice, servers do have physical limits, and it's just silly to believe that you really are "unlimited". I'm pretty sure if I somehow used up all the space that WHB offers, I'd be ready to move to a dedicated server, anyways. A shared hosting account has performance limits inherent in the design of hosting many people on one server. Eventually if one uses too much space, they'll be forced to move servers, regardless.

I personally don't like all the icons of the Cpanel themes. I use the Blue Lagoon theme on x3, it's completely text based and more professional looking.

The X3 range of themes are the official cPanel ones, so are always updated etc.

We signed up for a HG account and will be comparing features
