new to vps server

hello
this is my first time using vps i only using my server to host one website
cose i've heard that vps server are more secure than shared plan
and i want to know a few things about security stuff
and how can i do backup for my web site
do i have to be worry for updating my server i have ( ovz silver ) plan
i havent setup my forum yet and am gonna use vbulletin software

Minimum System Requirements for vbulletin
Minimum:
PHP: 5.2.0
MySQL: 4.1.0
Recommended
PHP: 5.2.6 or newer
MySQL: 5.0.19 or newer
what if i dont have this requirements and how can i update them
Are there any other things i should know about vps server

You can submit a ticket to our Virtual Servers dept at http://www.whbsupport.com with request to update php and MySQl version if you have lower one. We can setup any version of php and MYSQL on VPS server.
As for Backups - you can set daily or weekly backup using your WHM, more information can be found on official site of cPanel:
