Default Joomla! 1.0.15 Stable install not in Fantastico List of installed Scripts on CPanel

    I'm curious...
One of my older Joomla sites is ready for a make over. I've not used the install in quite some time and was looking to upgrade it to either 1.5 or 1.7. However, when I access the listing of installed scripts under Fantastico Deluxe from my CPanel I see no entry for this script. I know the CPanel has undergone improvements since I originally installed the Joomla 1.0 script but can someone please explain where I would be able to find the entry for my 1.0 script so I can upgrade it. If no entry exists, is there another simple way to carry out the upgrade to 1.5 or 1.7?

Any and all help is very much appreciated.

    Thanks!
    Peace!

Fantastico is being superseded by Softaculous on all of our servers. Have you checked Softaculous out?

Thanks for the reply Matt. I had not checked on Softaculous as of the time of my original post but I since have. I still do not see my 1.0.15 instance of Joomla listed however. The only option I see in Softaculous is for the 1.7 install. Again, I wish to use the auto-upgrade feature for my current 1.0.15 instance. My 1.0.13 instance is listed with an option to upgrade, but not my 1.0.15. Perhaps the problem is that 1.0.15 installs cannot be automatically upgraded to 1.5, 1.6, or 1.7. Any ideas?

    Thanks!

FWIW, I would never even install software via an automated script, much less upgrade. Although it would save me some work, in the end I would know absolutely nothing about it, thus I would be completely unprepared to administer it. Just my humble opinion.

I've never used Joomla, but the CMS's I have used were all fairly easy to upgrade (though it gets tiring keeping up with all the security upgrades). Have you looked at the Joomla upgrade process? And the extensions available to make it easier? Whatever you do, be sure to manually make a full site backup first - don't ever count on a script to do that for you.

Thanks for the reply. I'm well aware of the process one follows when installing, upgrading, or removing a Joomla script manually. My question was simply to inquire about the option to upgrade it automatically. Since I used the auto-install to deploy the script I simply assumed I would be able to use the same to upgrade it, just as with my other instances.

    Thanks again and take care!

I don't think it is possible to auto-upgrade some of the older versions... but a better place to inquire would be the Joomla community

I've also been polling the members over there to see if there is an option. However, since the install previously showed up in the list for Joomla Fantastico installs I thought there could be an issue preventing it from appearing in the list. Last night I went ahead with a manual upgrade. So far everything is working perfectly. It was a little more work but it's done regardless.

Thanks to you and the others for chiming in.

Many hosters now have switched off to softaculous from fantastico. And you can install Joomla 1.0.15 from softaculous Installer.
