    Default Number of Server Reboots

There sure seems to be a lot of server reboots lately. Is that normal? I'm new here - only one month. First off, I'm glad that Admin is so quick to notify us when server is rebooting, etc., but it does seem like they are rebooting a lot - several times a day sometimes 3-4 times.

Also, before signing up, I read this forum and saw that cpanel was upgraded to cpanel 11 way back in August, I think. But I still have cpanel 10 on my account. Is the upgrade just not complete across all servers or what? Do some of you have cpanel 11? When will all accounts be cpanel 11?

Your cPanel theme is most likely set to the 'x' theme rather than 'x3'. 'x' by default shows the cPanel 10 images. You can verify your server is on cPanel 11 by logging into cPanel and looking for 'cPanel Version' on the left information panel.

Please submit a ticket to support to have your theme changed if needed.

A lot of reboots? I use two servers, Shared 1 & 7. Shared 1 was just rebooted for the first time in over 75 days (~2.5 months). Shared 7 has been up and running for over 67 days (~2 months) since the last reboot. What server are you on?

I think you're just misinterpreting the number as being large. WHB has a lot of servers, so I would expect a few different ones to be rebooted every day.

As pointed out, the time to worry is when YOUR server has to be rebooted all the time. That sometimes happens because of hardware failures, but the gang is usually pretty quick to spot that and deal with it.

Note also there are some duplicates. In today's list I see 2 servers listed twice by two different people.

Um, yeah, I can't change the theme on my cpanel for some reason.. It's not that big of a deal, but I like the look of the cpanel on my other whb site.. My site's http://daworldofredwall.net. The link on cpanel just leads to a dead end.

You are correct, I didn't understand that WHB staff was reporting on numerous different servers, however, I do believe my server ss3, has experienced a few more reboots than I expected since joining. Outages are always short, however, and I don't see it as a big issue. I use a separate DNS service, with DNS Failover with System Monitoring. So when the monitoring service cannot connect to my site, it switches the DNS to my backup server and sends me an email telling me when the site is down and again when it is back up. Like I said, outages are usually only 5-10 minutes, but I have received several reports today of outages. I don't know exactly how accurate this service is, maybe it can't connect for other reasons, but at lease I know my pages are still being served by my backup server.

As for the cpanel 11 issue, it was upgraded, but still showed the cpanel 10 theme. WHB fixed that as soon as I submitted a support ticket.

All in all, I'm very happy with WHB and hopefully I've found a permanent home!

We do rolling audits to on all servers to keep them running well but I will have the team check SS3 to see if we can determine the cause of the excess reboots.

Oh no! Welcome to SS3. I think.

I sometimes get database errors emailed to me when the server starts crapping out. But I wouldn't want to get emailed every time this lousy Comcast connection times out. Lots recently.

We actually moved my co-admin to DSL last year so we can cross-check to see if slowdowns are a server issue or just our ISPs.
