    Default Domain Pointing With DNS

    Hello Great One's

I do not know if Mike is here but that goes for him also

    1. I was told this can be done

    2. I have a domain umfellowship.org on server A.

    3. It is an account setup in WHM. It has nothing on it except my welcome page.

    4. I want umfellowship.org to point to fummwa.org on server B.

    5. I know I can use domain pointing at the registrar but for some reason the person trying this is using AOL and it does not forward.

    6. In WHM can I set the DNS of umfellowship.org on server A to point to fummwa.org on server B?

If I can do the above how do I do it? What settings do I have to change in the DNS of umfellowship.org?

    Thanks for any advice!

Parking domains across 2 servers is possible, but it's something we have to do for you. You'll need to point umfellowship.org's name servers to ns100.whbdns.com and ns101.whbdns.com, or your custom name servers if we're doing that for you. We'll be setting up CNAME records for that domain, and pointing those CNAMEs to fummwa.org.

    Ken:

You could create a Redirect, so that when a user enters umfellowship.org in his browser it would resolve to fummwa.org.

If you want the fummwa.org site to load while the address field still shows umfellowship.org, then that is a Park to a different server and, as Jef said, Support will have to do that for you.

    Hello Great Ones

Wow, for some reason I did not get a notice that you replied. I need to fix that somehow?

Alan, the redirect even with PHP I am trying to do away with.

We'll be setting up CNAME records for that domain, and pointing those CNAMEs to fummwa.org.

Is the above done in the edit DNS zone by just adding a CNAME for the domain I am pointing to>

It would be valid to create a CNAME record for this. However, when I tested this a couple of years ago on a cPanel server, the CNAME did not work unless the destination domain was on the same server. The DNS was valid, but cPanel did not enable it. At that time, umfellowship.org would have had to be on the same server as fummwa.org for the CNAME to work. I haven't tested it recently, so you could create a CNAME to some off-server domain to see if it now works or not.

Mod note: moved non-relevant posts, about separate addon domain issue, to new thread at http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/forums...ead.php?t=2423

Gandy Kachucha: your posts were moved to http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/forums...ead.php?t=2423, as this is entirely separate issue from what OP raised in this thread.
