Default Email forwarding setup is confusing and doesn't work

I went through the Cpanel steps to setup email forwarding with three problems:
    1. It doesn't have an option to setup separate forwarding for each email address, only for the domain.
    2. It has a cryptic message at the end -- "All email sent to mydomain.com (not real, just an example) will now be redirected to me@yahoo.com (also not real)Warning, changing default address for mydomain.com since an email address was specified instead of a domain name." -- which seems very odd in that it didn't even allow me to specify an email address, only the domain name.
    3. It doesn't work. No email is forwarded to my Yahoo email account.

Do you have an idiot's guide to setting up email forwarding?

    Default

You mistakenly chose "Email Domain Forwarders". What you want to use is "Email Account Forwarders", which should be further up on that same cPanel page.
