Same, I just bought a package and received the info really fast and logged in, but then the site issues started happening and I am still waiting for my domain name to get registered and to access the CP again.

I'm alright waiting for now though; these things happen and I'm sure the WHB staff is hard at work getting things fixed up for us. I just can't wait to get started building my site using this service

same here.. this is the second time my site has been down this week... does this happen often on the cheap reseller accounts or something? i guess the saying goes, you get what you pay for..

I'm glad I'm not the only one having problems accessing my control panel or the support website. But why didn't I just stay with Godaddy?

Yeah - I've recently signed up, it's quite disappointing to have the service go down within 12 hours of my first login. I sure hope that this is not a sign of things to come, and some sort of once-off outage as i'd seriously consider canceling my service.

I feel so guilty now that ive made this thread... i didnt think it would get this many replies nor did i expect a lot of people to have similar problems.. I only made the thread as i couldnt access the support area at all..

Im on RS9 and RS9 plays up a lot so i thought it was just me and RS9... and then i thought maybe i was being a pain to the support staff and theyve barred me from seeing the support page so they can be at peace for a while...

Sigh.. well i can tell you whb is great.. every web host has its hiccups here and there.. but my sites did come up sooner or later... which is good.

    Guys,

I am sory for the delay in reply here. I told the team I'd reply to this but fell asleep at my desk before I could. It's been a long long day...

    Onto the issues.

We have a significant amount of our infrastructure in a datacenter called AtlantaNAP, in Atlanta (10 racks worth of equipment). Atlanta suffered some heavy storms yesterday evening and a lightening strike hit some overhead pylons carrying power into the facility. We have dual power feeds into the facility but the first strike took out the breaker. In an issue like this, this will put the power distribution system into a safety emergency mode and will not start the generators until a manual check has been done on all systems. It is setup this way to

    1) Not fry expensive computer equipment
    2) Not electrocute datacenter staff

Equipment is installed at various points throughout the power system to protect equiment, including breakers and TVSSes.
After liasing with electrical experts employed by the datacenter, we concluded that this is a 1 in a million chance of happening. The strikes occurred very close to the facility meant that the surge could not be dissipated over the entire grid, as this is what usually happens and you're left with a much smaller surge that our power conditioning gear and "clean".

We are reviewing our options with AtlantaNAP on how we and they can prevent any such future occurrence.

This power issue caused the outages you have seen.
