    Question Awstats isn't enough?

My boss has been asking me for statistics for the websites we have and I've been realizing Awstats isn't cooperating.

Specifically this time, he wants to know what cities are sending the most visits, but even the countries displayed in our awstats info is apparently wrong (either that or Analytics is wrong).

I have both Google Analytics and Awstats to compare things but while one says most of our visits are from Canada (as it should be), Awstats says they come from the US.

Analytics has a breakdown of cities but he wants the stats from an independent analyzer for obvious reasons. Yet I cannot use Awstats because the countries are already appearing strange and it doesn't have a count for cities.

Anything I can do to upgrade Awstats or what can I do to get more reliable data? I do believe I have access to raw stat logs but i haven't found a good (reliable) program with which to read them either.

Any help in this issue would be very helpful.

The data is obtained from ipwhois info, as I guess GA's is too. Unfortunately, there are not a lot of statistics packages out on the market these days.

Is there any way to get a city report from the IP's on Awstats? Both GA and Traffic Facts (that we use on another domain) give this data, but Awstats does not appear to do so.

    From the Awstats homepage:

AWStats also supports the following features:
    * Can analyze a lot of log formats: Apache NCSA combined log files (XLF/ELF) or common (CLF), IIS log files (W3C), WebStar native log files and other web, proxy, wap or streaming servers log files (but also ftp or mail log files). See AWStats F.A.Q. for examples.
    * Works from command line and from a browser as a CGI (with dynamic filters capabilities for some charts),
    * Update of statistics can be made from a web browser and not only from your scheduler,
    * Unlimited log file size, support split log files (load balancing system),
    * Support 'not correctly sorted' log files even for entry and exit pages,
    * Reverse DNS lookup before or during analysis, support DNS cache files,
    * Plugin for country detection from IP location (use geoip country database or client domain name),
    * Plugin for city detection from IP location (use geoip city database),
    * Plugins for US/Canadian Region , ISP and/or Organizations reports (require non free third product geoipregion, geoipisp and/or geoiporg database)
    * WhoIS links,
Is there any wayI can have these plugins installed and functional on my awstats?
