    Default random support questions

    1. Could I please get someone to take a look at ticket AGJ-153423? I have had it up since Dec. 1 and have yet to receive a comment on it.
    2. When will we see uptime figures for November? I would like to relay the uptime for the server I'm using to my clients each month.

    Hi,

We have notified our Senior Manager him about your inquiry; he will update you as soon as possible.

The November uptime figures can be found on- http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/blog/c...ptime-figures/

hmm, 100% uptime on rs17 is very suspect, considering that server was down for about a day:
    http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/forum/...m-problem.html

The clients were informed that their sites were down that day, so they won't believe me if I tell them "100% uptime."

The outage was completely understandable- I was in Atlanta that day, and also had a power outage (less than an hour after yours) that took out a hard drive on my PC, but I'm curious as to why such a long outage is not represented in the uptime figures.

If there was a network issue in the data center then it would not be reflected because the server is technically up and responding to pings. Having said this, I do not exactly know what happened on that day and I can check it for you. Rest assured the figures posted on the blog were exactly copied over from the monitoring software.

    I'll check on this.

No power outage affected our servers. The datacenter has generators and a N+1 UPS system.

Don't go through any extra trouble on the server uptime - I can estimate it decently for my clients.

Matt: if the server wasn't shut down (or lost power somehow), it wouldn't have a 16 day "uptime" (which corresponds to the aforementioned forum post). Still, only having to be rebooted once in the past 50 days is more than acceptable for the value we get with webhostingbuzz. From memory, there was a circuit fault that caused the server to lose power (according to a conversation I was having with live support that day). Like I said in post #1, my battery backup system had a circuit failure that very hour, and I lost a hard drive. Unlike WHB, I didn't have raid though and lost everything .

I would, however, be interested in seeing if I can tell nagios to use httping instead of ping, to get the server software uptime instead of just the network card's uptime. That would be a better measure of server uptime.

EDIT: for anyone interested, httping is available at http://www.vanheusden.com/httping/

Sorry, I recall now. This was an incident with the breakers failing. Not a power cut.
