ASSP issues
Is it just me or is this new ASSP setup a real problem? I have a client who is mad at me since I recommended WHB to them as a webhost but since the ASSP install on COMET they've been getting email bounced back to legitimate senders like mad. Heck it's telling them that the recipients don't exist.
We have a ticket open with support but I'm just wondering if this is isolated or a problem with the ASSP software in general. In looking at these forums, ASSP was removed from another server and the SPAMASSASSIN was put back on for some reason.

We have disabled ASSP again. It is a nice piece of software and should be more effective than SpamAssasin, but there are a ton of bugs which need to be worked out before we can really implement it on a widespread basis.

Matt:
If you've disabled it, have a chat with the guys in support because we're still getting bounces - I sent a test right after you made this post and no joy :-(

Also, for future reference ... I am the admin contact on several accounts for my clients and so far I can't find an instance where I was warned that such a major change as ASSP was coming to my server. Did I miss that somehow? It would have saved a lot of customer relations points if I could have told my clients that this was happening and might be causing the issue.

Hello Ronnie,
We had some problems with ASSP on your server, it was started with a bad exim config. We have resolved this issue, try to send mail now.

Jef:
They appear to be receiving email at this point but I will continue to monitor it for 48 hours just to be sure. As for the fix, did you remove ASSP as Matt stated above because its buggy, or did you attempt a fix for ASSP and the possibility exists that this could occur again?
I ask this because one client on the COMET server has already said that if this isn't a reasonably permanent fix, they'll find a new provider.

I was wrong I'm afraid, it's enabled in pass through mode. I'll get more information shortly.

ASSP will be removed from comet shortly and SpamAssassin reinstalled. There was another update that occurred today for ASSP that was suppose to resolve the problems that were happening.
The actual software was doing a lot of spam protection, though there are still a few bugs that were discovered that now need to be worked out.
I will be continue to test this software on one of our test boxes and lets hope within the near future we will be able to roll out this product as it does a very good job of protecting email accounts from receiving spam.

Tell us in advance, please!
I agree with racolvin. I'm disappointed that WHB didn't tell us in advance that ASSP was going to be installed on Comet. And then, they didn't tell us that there were problems they were aware of and were being worked on. And then they didn't tell us that ASSP was turned off and SpamAssasin was turned back on again (but not enabled)
This equates to three messages that should have been sent out on the comet notices forum.
Poor communications indeed!
David.

David,
Noted, and I agree with you. We will re-examine our communication policy for such events in future.

Thanks Matt.
It is amazing how much spam I get now, so any slight change in how you guys handle spam really impacts my inbox and how much time I have to spend processing it.
David.
