Question Any tips for using SSL with Zen Cart?

I am using Zen Cart for a client's shopping cart. For the last couple of weeks I've been trying to get a secure login and checkout setup. I've searched this forum and the Zen Cart forum and tried every solution I could find.

I have all the proper pieces setup for the SSL and have successfully secured my admin pages. When I change the settings to enable SSL on the site, I get different results on different browsers/OS.

On a Mac using Safari or Firefox, I login through a secured page and as soon as I click on an item or a link, I loose my session and am no longer logged in. Since it does this, I am unable to see items in my shopping cart and can't checkout.

On Windows XP using IE7 - everything seems to work fine with a secured login and checkout.

On Windows XP using Firefox - once I'm logged in through the secured page, adding items to the cart works but takes me to an "400 Bad Request" error page. If I refresh the page, the green bar "item added to cart" shows up at the top and the item is in the cart.

Has anyone been successful at getting it to work for all Browser/OS combinations? If so, what settings did you have to change?

    Hi Splitbumper,

You sound not quite clear about whether you actually have SSL certificate installed on your account. Could you please specify? SSL certificate requires a dedicated IP to be installed on a current hosting account.

Please make sure, you have a dedicated IP, issued specifically for your account. If no, feel free to submit a ticket to our billing department and order one for $30/year.

We look forward to hearing from you.

I do have an SSL certificate and a dedicated IP already setup. The admin pages work just fine as https pages so I know the SSL piece is setup correctly.
