Smile need conformation about the 'whois' set up for my private name servers

Hi there being a newbee n00b to the reseller hosting plan I want to confirm if the passage below (I cut and pasted) for the whois for the private name servers has been set correctly, here's the extract:

    __________________________________________________ ______________

    IP Lookup | Snapshot

IP Lookup - Find the name servers and IP addresses for a domain.

    www. details
.com, .net, .org, .info, .biz, .mobi, .asia, .name, .tel, .ws, .us, .cn, .tv, .cc, .co.uk, .eu, .me

    IP Status of dnmegacash.com
Okay - The domain seems to be working correctly.

If you can not see your website, try from a different location. An old IP address may be temporarily cached in your computer or local network.

    Registry Name Servers
    ns118.whbdns.com
    ns128.whbdns.com

    Zone Name Servers
    ns118.whbdns.com
    ns128.whbdns.com

    ns118.whbdns.com
    dnmegacash.com

    ip address 64.22.76.28
    64.22.76.28
    mx record dnmegacash.com: 0
    www.dnmegacash.com

    cname dnmegacash.com

    ns128.whbdns.com
    dnmegacash.com

    ip address 64.22.76.28
    64.22.76.28
    mx record dnmegacash.com: 0
    www.dnmegacash.com

    cname dnmegacash.com

    __________________________________________________ ___

I didn't find the instructions in the welcoming email as stated in your wiki
all I recived as a request for the registration of the ip address's. I found
the DNS info in my webhostingbuzz client account instead. This may be to be stated in future welcome emails cause I've been racing around like a headless chicken between the domain register (dynadot) and hosting register (webhostingbuzz) for the set up instructions Apart from this everything looks positive and I look foward to seting up my site in Cpanel.

    Hello Roofis,

    Your nameservers are
    ns118.whbdns.com (74.81.78.113)
    ns128.whbdns.com (64.22.76.28)

and that is actually all you need to configure if you just point your domain to our nameservers

That is really strange that you didn't receive them in your welcome email, as all our welcome emails have a standard template.
You can submit a ticket at whbsupport.com to sales department with and copy your welcome email there, so that we could investigate the issue.

I ran some tests on your domain dnmegacash.com. It looks to me as though you are trying to use personal nameservers for that domain. (We call them personal nameservers, not private, since they are personalized to you but are not private since DNS info is always public.)

Do you have a Reseller account? Personal nameservers can be enabled with some Reseller plans, but not with regular shared hosting plans.

I see these "A" records in your DNS Zone:

    ns1.dnmegacash.com. 14400 IN A 74.81.78.119
    ns2.dnmegacash.com. 14400 IN A 64.22.76.28

However, the nameservers that are actually in use by your domain are:

    ns118.whbdns.com. ['74.81.78.113'] [TTL=172800]
    ns128.whbdns.com. ['64.22.76.28'] [TTL=172800]

Even though the IPs are the same, that mis-match is not good. This probably means that you want to use personal nameservers, but you have neglected two important steps:
    1. You did not change the NS list at the domain registrar to use personal nameservers.
    2. You did not properly register the personal nameservers.
You must correct those DNS errors. So, assuming that you have the right type of Reseller account to use personal nameservers, you must follow those steps that you have so far omitted.
I am not WHB staff and I am not paid.
I provide help in these forums on my own time.

Thanks Alan B for testing the NS configuration for the site
In answering your question it is a resellers account. I purchased a Platinum hosting plan from this sales page webhostingbuzz.com/website-hosting.shtml?host_reseller-hosting I'm not sure if it's a shared or individual plan but I'm thinking it's an individual plan (need to confirm.)
    The platinum plan allows me the following;

    Anonymous Nameservers: yes

    Private Label Nameservers: yes
    (ns1.yourhostingwebsite.com and ns2.yourhostingwebsite.com)

    Dedicated IP Addresses: yes (6)

I can set up the Personal nameservers as you stated and I'm looking at the congif data you've provided so as to fix this as soon as possible. Thanks again for you time and input (and admin /anna.m,) much appreciated !

    Hi,

Though it is also possible to use default server NS (ns118.whbdns.com & ns128.whbdns.com), of course, it would be better to have special private ones. The change should be done in your registrar control panel as follows:

    1) Register the name servers:

    ns1.dnmegacash.com
    74.81.78.119

    ns2.dnmegacash.com
    64.22.76.28

    2) Change the name servers for the domain to:
    ns1.dnmegacash.com
    ns2.dnmegacash.com

Yeah I've asked the domain register this but the path they suggested to me for the name server settings was not present (dynadot have a unique customized settings feature.) I do have functionality for the site although I need to authenticate the Cpanel and WHM as my browser (firefox 3.0.9) once in a while blocks access due to the SSL being self signed. I make exceptions to override and can access my site and Cpanel, but know this is a bad practice. Anyway's I've got the 'get started' PDF's downloaded I can fix this after I resolve personal name servers. The main problem is with ip: 74.81.78.119 I tested this at a ip lookup site and it said that it I broken DNS

ip-lookup.net/index.php I think their script is to blame! I went to both http://64.22.76.28 and http://74.81.78.119 they are present with apache enabled. When I set ns118.whbdns.com (ip 74.81.78.119) at dynadot it converts ns118.whbdns.com to ip (64.22.76.28) Anyway I think the best solution is to transfer the domain to namecheap as I've got an account there and considering it is utilized by webhostingbuzz the nameserver panel may be more friendly to configuring personal name servers.

Most domain registrars have an on-line tool or control panel in which you can register personal nameservers yourself. I found this in your registrar's forum:
How do I register my own name servers?
To create your own name servers for a domain registered by Dynadot, follow these steps:

    Log into your Dynadot account.
    Click on the "Domains" tab.
Click on the "Name Servers" subsection link.
Look for the phrase, "Register a domain name server". It should be inside a blue box. Click on this link.
Enter the host name (ns1.mydomain.com, for example) in the text box labeled "Host Name".
Enter the IP address for the name server in the text box labeled "IP Address".
    Click the "Submit" button.

Why do you think it is a bad practice? There's nothing wrong with it. A self-signed cert is just as secure as a purchased cert. The only difference is that browsers won't automatically recognize the issuer since self-signed has not paid for recognized authority stamp. It is just as secure, and you can install the self-signed cert into your browsers so that they will not give you the warning.

    Thumbs up

Ok thanks for the reinsurance about SSL. I've been to that help section at dynadot and there seems to be no "register a domain name server". inside a blue box. Instead they have an "edit a domain name server" on the tab but I cant do this with dnmegacash.com because it's not configured in their name server section to start with It's like a cat chasing it's tail!
Anyway's I'm having a look at the panel at namecheap I think it's similar to the godaddy one and I've had experence with it in the past. I've got a few LLLL.com's at namecheap so I'll go to that account.

As you have a reseller account with dedicated IPs, you can create your own self-signed SSL cert issued by dnmegacash.com, which you can use to access cPanel and WHM. That way you won't have to use the default shared SSL for those. You can also use your self-signed cert for other things, such as webmail access. I installed SquirrelMail in my account, so I could customize it, and I access it via my own self-signed SSL.

I found a great tutorial page by Rob Moore to set up personal DNS which may help future newbies asking the same question,

    Creating Private Nameservers~[section 7]/whmcs/tutorials.php#

    Video tutorial here, (direct link)

    Creating Private Nameservers at NameCheap.com

After the registering the ip's all I needed to do was go to the Domain Name Server Setup tab and change DNS to ns1.dnmegacash.com and ns2.dnmegacash.com.

Thanks to all for helping me out much appreciated!
