That's for shared server #8. I'm not on that server. And it still doesn't explain why the WHB main site, the support site, and this site keep going down.

Love the happy little smiley faces tiolalu, but I'm not laughing.

Hmm... If yours has been up all the time until now, then why do you say you had that problem too? And what do you mean by you "hope it gets resolved faster than possible"? Are you implying that I'm making some kind of unreasonable demand? Smells fishy to me. I wonder how personally familiar you are with our host.

    Hi,
I don't think it helps anybody keeping it in public.
You can assume one of two things is happening.

WebHostingBUZZ is now aware that there is a problem and are working hard to fix it.
    or

WebHostingBuzz is pretending nothing is wrong and are trying to cover things up.

My guess is that they are working hard to fix the problems. And pestering them here is not going to help.

So are you trying to convince me to go ahead and submit the ticket, or keep quiet completely? I would think submitting the ticket would only pester them further.

Besides, all I'm asking for is a friendly little announcement saying "Hey sorry for the downtime but yadda yadda yadda happened and we're working on it". We don't even get that though. I'm sure they're working on it, but I want information. Some kind of short description of the problem and how long they think it'll take to fix it. How long does it take to post a message here? It's really not asking much.

The problem is at the FortressITX datacenter and with one of their routers there. I am currently in talks with them (expressing our displeasure - we pay a lot of money for their service) and they inform me everything is up at present. I am also tentatively talking about installing our own hardware there this weekend to prevent any future downtime. Right now, they supply bandwidth to our switches but with this option we'd have a lot more control ourselves.

I will upate when I have more information. I actually just got home after going to NY to visit them so apologies if this post is a little cranky, the jet lag isn't os great right now.

Nope, Not trying to convince you to keep quiet.
Just pointing out that I doubt you are helping things get fixed faster.
I agree that it would be nice if they mentioned that something was going on. But I can understand if they are busy. (I'm also in IT)

FWIW: it is a good idea to submit a ticket.

Thanks. I hope this means that I can leave my computer now for an hour without worrying about my site going down again. Nevertheless I appreciate the update, even though I question why you were the only person who could have posted it...

lokki, I'm in IT too. An unfortunate part of being in IT is having to keep your clients informed of the situation, especially when things aren't working. Being busy fixing things is not an excuse for keeping clients in the dark.

hmmm..... roaming blackouts. A few minutes ago my sites on SHARED1 weren't working, the status site wasn't working, the Main site wasn't working and the support site wasn't working. My site on SHARED7 however, was working.

Hehe... and you're not even hosted at FortressITX. Your site is in Dallas. Fortress is in NJ.

I agree, I'm not excusing their behaviour. (I have now agreed with you 3 times)
They should keep us informed as to what is going on. I'm just saying that complaining about it does not help.

BTW: Once I was able to enter a ticket I recieved a reply in a couple of minutes.

Yeah, a few people are having that problem too. I think some kind of disaster happened. There's nothing else that I can think of that would cause data loss on some servers and routing trouble on others. And all in completely different location across the country too. I did a traceroute on your domain, and it doesn't get routed through Fortress at all, at least as far as I can tell.

well my site has been down now for 14 hours! Im so not happy about that! Ive had about 50 emails from my members asking me when its going to be back online, which when i asked via ticket i didnt get a very helpful response! I understand things have gone wrong, but i had to Hunt this info out myself. Perhaps emailing all the admins of the sites there's an issue with the server 8 rather than us coming online and getting a shock! This is the first time Ive hosted anything myself, so im new to all this, technical and everything! My page now says ~

    Unable to connect

FireFox can't establish a connection to the server at www.lostie.org.uk/forum

Here's what i posted via tickets (im posting this in case it helps someone else out)

I cant load my forum up, i get this message when i try ~ message_die() was called multiple times. This isn't supposed to happen. Was message_die() used in page_tail.php?

and i also can t load up my control panel properly!

Whats happened? have i been hacked?

    Dear Ellen,

Please note that currently we're working on this issue.
We'll let you know as soon as it is fixed.

    i replied ~

is the problem your end or is it at mine? i still cant get online, and neither can my members

    Dear Ellen,

The server is unreachable due to server drive replacement.
You can view the status of the server here:

Please also note that we are currently working on this server.
We'll let you know as soon as we finish.

    Regards,

Then my forum came online! I was so happy! Then nothing! Was online for 5 minutes! And have had anything since so i replied ~

the forum has gone again! patiently awaiting news the server is back online

I submitted another ticket asking what was going on ~

Ive have been able to connect to my site all morning, im now having this message ~

    Not Found
The requested URL /forum/ was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

My members have just started to email me asking what is going on! I'd like to know when my site will be back online please

how long roughly will it be? my site has been down (as far as im aware) for over 8 hours.

then this was the last i heard from them ~

    Dear Ellen,

We will try our level best to resolve it as soon as possible, but unfortunately we cannot give the estimated time when this problem will be fixed.

Thank you for your understanding and co-operation in this regards.

I understand their are issues, but I'm slowly losing my patience! I have nearly 3000 members that use my page, i need to know what is going on!

equazcion, I'm not familiar with the hosting.

I had the same problem with tickets server, that goes down, but I havent with my server (Now I can say it's because of the location).

I told you: "hope it gets resolved faster than possible", because I want this problem resolve ASAP for you, I not trying to mean anything else.
I don't know enough english to explain as well as I try.
