You should know that they're saying it's 2 separate issues, SupremeChaotic. Your hard drive issue isn't the one that Saf M was talking about in the message I quoted. He was talking about a router, apparently one that doesn't affect shared #8. Although it seems odd that both incidents seem to have occurred at exactly the same time.

There's a million things that can occur at any given time. With as many servers as the host uses, I'm very surprised that nothing like this has happened before. But then, that only shows me the level of committment these guys have at running this service.

It's something that happens. Not everything is 100% perfect. Is it an inconvenience? Of course. But that's no reason to be all negative about everything, including the host. I'm sure they're working 110% on correcting the situation.
It's been 24 hours. We're way past calling this an "inconvenience", or "not 100% perfect." I'm negative about it because it is a negative situation. It is NOT something that "happens". Equipment fails. That happens. This particular scenario however is not something that "happens."

You're right. No one one holding a gun to my head. Switching hosts can be a real pain though. Rest assured I have not discounted that as an option.

With as many different hosts as you've had (or claimed), I would assume that switching again would be nothing for you as you've had plenty of practice.

I'm sorry you feel the way you do about the situation, but the constant complaining is not going to fix it.

Who says the different hosts I've had were all for the same site? Besides which, having had the "practice" doesn't necessarily make it easier. Try telling a mother with 5 children that giving birth again should be no sweat since she's had so much practice. Your logic is a little off.

Moving websites and giving birth are nowhere near the same. Nice attempt, though.

At any rate, this forum was designed to allow us clients a chance to discuss support topics in a mature manner. I think our discussion has mutated into more than that. So, in conclusion, I'll just reiterate that despite the situation at hand, I am still happy with the overall service and would still give it two thumbs up.

On another topic, do this forum's email notifications work for anyone here? I've been subscribed to this thread since I started it and I haven't gotten any emails.

Agreed. I was make a point. You said you assume that having had the practice would therefore mean that it is no longer a pain. I'm illustrating that that is not a valid assumption.

No clue. Never tried. I guess I should, though.

Shared8 is restored, and we're monitoring the services as they are brought up. If you have any issues that require passing sensitive data, such as username or passwords, please send them in a ticket.

I've been in continuous contact with my server and haven't noticed any network issues in the last hour or two. Just wanted to mention that lest anyone think all I do is complain.

My site is back up. does not look like anything was lost. So that is good.

    Supreme
I'm an optimist so I hope that this was just bad timing for me, and I don't think it is representative of WebhostBuzz. So no intention of leaving.

I too have been with others hosts. And so far I like WHB. (other than the long down time).

    Thanks

    Hi All,

I want to offer the best explanation I can for the issues faced.

There were 2 issues at hand.

    1) The FortressITX issues with the network. We have editted the announcements forums to indicate which server is where.

    2) The Shared8 hard drive issue.

Regarding the first issue, Saf M and myself had literally just got off a flight from EWR after several days of meetings with Fortress. This is the first time we have both been away together (we are the two owners) and it's ironic that this has to happen when we're both travelling, not least as we have just travelled back from the DC.

Regarding the second issue, SoftLayer did not meet our expectations. We have performed many restores before and they really dropped the ball. This lead to me personally speaking with their CEO and we're making progress to improve the communications issue with them.

The fact that Saf and myself only came in late in the game and that we had just changed our shift timetable for our support team lead to delays in communication between ourselves and you that were inexcusable. I will be spending the next few days ensuring such an incident can never occur again and I can only thank everyone for their patience during this time.
