Access forbidden
Today I am receiving the following message when I access my web site:
---------------------
Forbidden
You don't have permission to access /vws/index.htm on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
Apache/2.0.63 Server at www.kcats.org Port 80
--------------------
To my knowledge, I've changed no access rules and cannot imagine why this is happening. The site's home page is still accessible.
Further investigation shows HTTP error code 301 occurs when attempting to access files in the vws directory.
Suggestions welcome!
Thanks.

I just posted a ticket on my domain, too. Same problem, but with a new page that I just uploaded, not the index page

I just got this reply:
Dear Customer,
Unfortunately we were forced to temporary restrict some of the server commands (such as chmod, chown, gcc, cc) due to the latest security vulnerability in Linux kernel. All settings will be reverted back after we update kernels on all our Linux servers. This issue should be resolved within next several days.
We can help you to "chmod" or "chown" your files before we update kernels. Please specify which files should be modified and we will do it for you.
Please accept our apologies for any inconveniences caused to you.
Thank you for your understanding.
Regards,
Artem M.

i've got the same thing on my account, since it's a 'known' thing, i'm not filling out a ticket on it or anything - just thought it might be worth mentioning, you can still change the file's permissions thru the control panel's file manager
the default umask appears to be setting a file's permissions to 600 - it wouldn't let me change it thru a ftp session, but the file manager allowed me to change things so that they would be viewable (644)

Dear Herbie and Warpsite,
let me clarify the things about that.
Files' permissions are changed that way due to limitation of "chmod" and "chown" functionality. This is a temporary measure, we had to take due to vulnerabilities, found in Linux kernels.
Herbie's right about cPanel, it's really able to change permissions. However, we cannot guarantee you that it will keep functioning as we may tighten our security measures strongly.
More details can be found here: http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/forum/...html#post18586
Sorry for these temporary inconveniences.
