That is what I thought - considering it hit Dublin for some reason! It should only have gone Belfast - Glasgow - Manchester then a BTconnect Router and back again. I will try it again later.

I am now off that IP, and I have no idea why it was listed to me. I go Belfast - Edinburgh too quick to be measured.

    Please read this: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Glue_re...d_glue_records

I have tuned up bind and DNS zones on our DNS cluster servers, please check how it is working now.

    Vladimir:

I understand well about glue records. Any glue records in this case are not within Mark's control, since he is not using personal nameservers. He has named WHB nameservers:

    ns100.whbdns.com.
    ns101.whbdns.com.

In my case, where I use personal nameservers under my main reseller domain for all my client domains, glue records are important and can be affected by my setup. I ensure that I have A records for each of my personal nameservers in my main reseller domain's DNS Zone. If I were using WHB named nameservers, then I could not do such a thing.
I am not WHB staff and I am not paid.

Thanks Alan, and thanks Vladimir - I also found this:
    Broken resolvers
An additional level of complexity emerges when resolvers violate the rules of the DNS protocol. A number of large ISPs have configured their DNS servers to violate rules (presumably to allow them to run on less-expensive hardware than a fully-compliant resolver), such as by disobeying TTLs, or by indicating that a domain name does not exist just because one of its name servers does not respond.[9]

MAXIM:Thanks for notifying about the error. The technicians are aware of the problem and currently investigating.

We will update this thread with the results.
    Any more word?

As Vladimir said, some maintenance had been done on DNS cluster servers.
Are you still receiving the error?

Not as yet Maxim. I am off to bed soon. I will be logging on tomorrow to do a few things and will check the stability.

Thanks to all for their support here.

    UPDATE:

I know it is too early to tell, but access to webmail/Cpanel is quicker. I checked the error log and found these:

    [Thu Sep 03 08:22:05 2009] [error] [client 90.214.11.87] File does not exist: /home/*/public_html/forum/styles/Iconic_Dark/templateli class=,
    referer: http://www.*.co.uk/forum/posting.php...27b086a4&t=219

[Thu Sep 03 03:51:42 2009] [error] [client 117.8.143.97] File does not exist: /home/*/public_html/forum/gallery
Gallery is hidden behind the PHPBB Forum and is members only. I did a Neotrace and found the IP to be Peking, so obviously a spam/hacker.

However, the first one still shows mixed URL/HTML. Neotrace shows about 20 hops all over the UK so I guess that is a spammer trying to keep hidden. I guess the 20 hops may have something to do with the error.

At least todays error list is not huge.

I will keep an eye on things.

    GREAT!
Everything going fine. The error list only shows spammers trying to get where they should not. It has been working fine all day.

    Except just now.
    Internal Server Error

The server encountered an internal error or misconfiguration and was unable to complete your request.

Please contact the server administrator, webmaster@*.co.uk and inform them of the time the error occurred, and anything you might have done that may have caused the error.

More information about this error may be available in the server error log.

Additionally, a 500 Internal Server Error error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
    Apache/2.0.63 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.63 OpenSSL/0.9.8i DAV/2 mod_auth_passthrough/2.1 mod_bwlimited/1.4 FrontPage/5.0.2.2635 Server at www.strictlybdsm.co.uk Port 80
    ROFL!

    Always something.

Renamed .htaccess and solved the fault.

    the problem was

    ErrorDocument 500 /500.shtmldeny from 117.8.131.2

What I had done was use the Cpanel to deny what appears to be a spam/attack IP from Peking. For some reason the HTaccess line was wrong.

    I hope this helps others!

    Default Same problem

I was having problems around the same time as this thread was created. My problems were resolved by the servicing of the DNS servers. However, the problem has returned and is worse than it was before. Not resolving for about 2 minutes every 10-15 minutes or so.

Domains and records effected: gankedagain.com, vent.gankedagain.com and rossdwest.com

    Unhappy

Same thing with me, Ross. Everything was great and now the whole problem is back again! No site, no Cpanel.

I checked out the last ticket and made a comment on it. "Awaiting Staff response".

This is now getting beyond a joke - I was entering a post on the Foum, tried to insert a smilie, and got a no-connection.

    Boy am I fed up!

If there are any support people on here, answer me these questions:

Why are my other sites perfect?

Why can I not get moved to another server?

    Should I move host?

I too am getting to the point where I feel I just need to change hosts so that I can access my site.

This is exactly the same problem I have reported before, a few times. I was told there was no problem. Then out of the blue, a resolution was put in place and things were normal. Now it is happening again and I have no wish to hear from Webhostingbuzz that there is no problem!

I am on my Site/Forum and suddenly the connection is gone. Sometimes it comes back within a minute, sometimes I just have to log off and come back later. Before asking me any more questions, please read this.

    http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/forum/...und-error.html

I am running a discussion Forum with only 60+ plus members so the load on the server will be insignificant.
    _____________________

    Now!

I have asked this before and nobody will answer:

Why is it that my other sites give me no problem whatsoever and I am paying (approx) the same annual fee?

If the server is at fault then why can I not be moved onto a server where I already have a working and fault-free service?

I have been with you almost 10 years: two long term sites of my own; one I Admin (several years now), two short term sites of my own, and a few I have set up for others.

Why am I having so much trouble with BUZZ1?

Do I need to take my custom elsewhere or will this problem be sorted once an for all?

    Thanks you

    Mark
    DAMN IT!

    Mark,

Let me apologize once again for all the recent issues with your rs14 server. At the moment RAID rebuild is taking place, so we're expecting all the services brought back to normal mode shortly. For sure, the downtime and lack of service our customers have experienced is unacceptable. This should be discussed and taken care of properly via our ticket system.

We appreciate each of our customers and will do our best to resolve this to everyone's satisfaction. Unfortunately there's no way to initiate and successfully complete the transfer from the server being maintained. We rely on your understanding.

    Rossxwest,

There have not been any problem with shared1 your sites are hosted on. The technicians should additionally check your issue. Could you please submit a support ticket on our HelpDesk or post here any updates if you did already?

I did submit an update to my original ticket about the problem earlier in the month. I haven't gotten a replay yet.

    Thank you, Maxim.

I am sure you understand just how frustrating this issue is. The first reply I get is this:
Your current IP (*.*.*.*) is not blocked on our server. As we can see from the server logs you are able to access Horde and your site 'strictlybdsm.co.uk' from this IP.
That makes it look like I am imagining things! I know I can access it all from my own IP - I want to know why it is not 100% of the time. Then a day later I get this:
I have checked server logs and found the probable reason for the issue. Our server was slightly attacked from a single IP address, which was blocked. Please update this ticket if the problem reoccurs and we will investigate.
Is there some way that customers can be warned about downtimes and the reason? This would certainly go a long way towards ending the frustration and, at times, anger. Spam, viral attacks and DDoS are thing we have to live with, along with the basic necessity for maintenance downtime. No arguments there.

And I apologise for my "reaction". I appreciate the good work all you people do, but a little light shines a far distance. If you tell me that my server will be down for 24 hours then I can mailout to members and make them aware of this fact.

    Mark
