not so tragic we hope:

There was network outage in Atlanta DC today. All our servers there have been consequently rebooted. You may check your server's current status in its dedicated branch.
wow, DDOS and a lightning strike.
you guys didn't a hit a school bus filled with nuns, right?
good luck!
any ETA on when all the servers are back online? mine (ss4) is still offline.
dystemper, File System check is still in progress on ss4 server. As soon as we have any updates on this, we will update ss4 thread.
You can subscribe to ss4 thread directly at http://www.webhostingbuzz.com/forum/...html#post21229.
We sincerely apologize for this issue and will do our best to resolve it as soon as possible.
Lena,
Don't you find it a bit pathetic that you are in a position to be running file system checks on multiple servers, causing them all (six of them) to be DOWN, while you have countless sites hosted on those servers, all of which are in turn DOWN, with pissed off clients and companies losing money by the minute? How can you justify having 8 or 9 hours of downtime on SIX servers??? Those sites should have been temporarily moved to a WORKING server! THIS IS NOT ACCEPTABLE.
Thank you for doing a wonderful job--especially keeping us informed so we could keep our people informed.
Pat
Trust me, we want to avoid the downtime and we do everything in our power to do so. But transferring data to a new server takes a couple of days if not longer, a FSCK is the best option in this case and is the one we have to proceed with. Migrating this amount of data to new servers takes much longer and results in more downtime.
The FSCK is a filesystem integrity check and makes sure all data is intact.
The situation is very disappointing but its the first time lightning has affected us like this. We have 6 UPS and generator sets and 5 held, 1 failed afer the strike and unfortunately, this caused the issue for 14 or so servers.
We are investigating the breakers/protection for lightning strikes across all UPS/generators to make sure we are doing the most that we can. But this freak call of nature unforuately briefly penetrated part of our defenses.
Ditto on the thank you for the service. Half the time I do have the occasional problem with it, it turns out that it's on my end. Thanks for everything, keep it up.![]()
This is really a nice website and i found some useful and informative material on it. Good post and keep it up.
