Need some help to share files on website

Hello everyone

I would like to ask some help. I want to share some files on my site and its only works if I put the files to the root folder. If I put the files to /downloads/ folder it does not work. I would like to put the files in a folder to avoid the mess.

It says: Not Found

The requested URL /sites/xyz was not found on this server.

Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.

Could you give me some idea what to do?

Btw, anyone could share a good script for downloading, what hides the path?

You say you tried placing files in a subfolder names /downloads/, but the path you said threw the error is /sites/xyz, which does not include /downloads. In your next post you give us your actual domain name and path where you tried to place the files.

Why would you need to hide the URL? What sort of files do you want to make available for download?

What type of hosting do you have? Shared, VPS, or your own dedicated server? And we'll need some test links to try it ourselves.
