    Default Htaccess File

    Hi All
I have a reseller account that is still in the process of being setup and tested.
During testing some of the scripts that i will be using for my clients (cms) etc.
I found a problem in the .htaccess file (i think it's a problem being a reseller) The 'FollowSymLinks' is automatically replaced by WB with

    # Webhostingbuzz.com # Options All and FollowSymLinks are disabled on this server.
    # Webhostingbuzz.com # FollowSymLinks is automatically replaced to SymLinksIfOwnerMatch, All is changed heuristically.
    Options +SymLinksIfOwnerMatch

I can see the reasoning for changing the 'FollowSymLinks' rule but what i don't understand is why WB had put thier name to the comments. Surely this could be done without putting their name in there ?
Me personally i think this is a problem for resellers
When i emailed the help desk about this problem they gave me the reasoning for the change but avoided the question about inserting their name. Its only a comments field so no reason in my opinoin for putting WB name in there.
Does anyone else have a view on this ?

    Just a quick update.
WB sent me an email saying the script has now been modified not to show their name.
But i think WB has a bigger problem with their reseller packages on UK servers, all the programs i have installed like Magenta, oscommerce, creLoaded etc.. show the server as rs2 webhostingbuzz.co.uk. This is a big Problem for resellers of hosting. The problem lies in their naming convention of their european based servers i think.

I'd recommend you opening a support ticket at https://whbsupport.com and describe the issue in as much details as possible. Our technicians will gladly assist you in a timely manner. Please also specify the way you have installed your CMS. Particularly, whether it was an auto-installer or you did it manually. I'm sure we'll be able to fix this for you.

    Hi Maxim
I have no issue with the installation of the scripts.
The first problem i mentioned was with the 'FollowSymLinks' being replaced but with WHB adding their name in the .htaccess file, as my last post mentioned this has now been resolved (i haven't tried another script yet) hopefully.
My second issue is that when you install scripts like oscommerce etc.. the actual program lists the server as 'rs2.webhostingbuzz.co.uk' in the configuration section, this is a problem for resellers because once again WHB name crops up again, to me white labeling is supposed to mean no mention of the data center supplier or main hosting company.
As mentioned above if you look at the american servers their naming convention is more anonymous than the european server which is actually called "rs2.webhostingbuzz.co.uk" this is the problem i think.

    Regards
    Steve

I'm amazed noboby has any comments on this issue?
This is a major issue for resellers on WHB.

    Hi,

This only just caught my attention. We'll correct the naming scheme this week.

Unfortunatley this still remains an issue. Just installed Joomla 1.7 and it's still reporting rs2.webhostingbuzz.co.uk as the server.

As far as I remember I have changed Webhostingbuzz from the script message in August.
Please create a ticket at https://whbsupport.com link in Technical Escalations department with all needed details and I will check this issue for you.

    Hi Vladimir

I'm sorry maybe i should have opened another thread for this one. The htaccess file has been modified yes, but when installing scripts like joomla, opencart etc.. the program itself is reporting the server as rs2.webhostingbuzz.co.uk in the system information screens of the administration backend of these scripts. (as shown bellow)
    server.png

If customers install any of these scripts the they will see that the server is actually WHB and for ressellers this may cause a problem?
As stated earlier the problem is the naming of the servers, the american servers are all rs4abstractdns.com for example which is very different from the european servers.

    Regards
    Steve

    Just a quick update....
I haven't logged on here for while i've been busy with other projects.
I have just checked the server information in joomla and now it's reporting the server as ukrs2.abstractdns.com which is great for resellers. All issues have been addressed by WHB.
I'd like to thank Matt and his team for taking my observations and acting upon them in a kind and curtious manner.

    Regards
    Steve
