Default Is VPS really any better?

I'm down, again. Apparently due to server overload.

I've been down more times in the last 6 months than in the lat 5 years.

Is WHB VPS service any better than the shared hosting? I'm looking around at my options. I've always used a shared hosting environment but it is just not working for me on WHB.

f you have more than a couple of domains to manage, reseller hosting or VPS is much better than standard shared hosting. Here are a couple of blog articles I wrote about the advantages, which may help you to decide:

Are you on normal shared or business.

I took business as the servers are suposedly less stressed then normal. But I've also suffered from server overload which I'm told was just unlucky in my first week.

Which server are you hosted on? You can request a transfer to a different server. If we notice any server becoming repeatedly unstable, we do thorough software and hardware audits (in additional to the regular automatic checks that we perform).

Matt, not clear if your question is to me or littlelizard. I'm on business3.

I just checked on Business3 and it's a very new server with few accounts on it. Definitely looks to be bad luck but I'll have our tech team clarify.

Business3 is one of our newest servers, CentOS6 based. It had an issue with stock CentOS6 network card driver, resulting in spontaneous loss of connectivity. The driver was replaced couple of weeks back, and the server is stable since that. Actually, this is one of the reasons why we switched back to CentOS5 for new server setups.

Littlelizard is not on business3 though. DaveTheShark is. It must be some different server.

We've just added a server field (thanks Tony) so your profile so everyone can note which server they are on. This will enable us to track down any issues and assist you faster if using the forum, so please fill this in.

Why not log our cpanel userid instead? I'm sure you could then build a neat query that you could then use to pull up all our details (including server) plus old tickets etc. Besides, users can't be relied upon to keep this info up to date if they change server.

Apologies if I'm teaching you to suck eggs!

Posting usernames in public is not a good idea. We're talking about the forum here. Obviously client and ticket history is tracked in our billing and helpdesk systems.

Good point, was going to suggest an arbituray id but just realised we provide email address on both systems so where users have used the same address you already have a link betwee your systems.
