    Default Server Timeouts

    Hi
I have been with web hosting buzz for just over one year now and since whb moved their servers from London to Amsterdam I have noticed the quality in the service decrease.

I am having constant time outs on sites I host, and before you say it, its not my end, people from around the world are having the same issue on multiple different sites hosted by me

I can honestly understand the frustration in this post
Server down 3 times on first day

The problems seem to mainly happen in the mornings around 10am GMT, pages can take upto a mintue to load if they havent even timed out, it also happens intermitinly.

A few months back I sent a support ticket in regarding the constant slow loading, this was one of the responses I received:
"All your sites are loading properly from different locations and we haven't seen any delay or service interruptions. Unfortunately we can't provide you with more detailed response and find out what exactly caused the delays from your end without the information that we requested from you. So please provide us with the commands results that we ask in the first post and we will analyze them".

I provided them with the command results they requested only to be told all was running well.

I finally got a response saying "The server your account is hosted on was overloaded simultaneously by several accounts (from another customer of whb). We were forced to suspend these accounts to stabilize the server.

So all the checks they had previously done that apperantley showed fine didnt mean nothing, sometimes things should be looked into deaper rather then just stating all is running well. As you can appreciate at this time I was very frustrated due to constantly being advised the fault was my end.

Now I'm not trying to bad mouth whb, overall the service is pretty good and the support team try their best to resolve situations fast, however there seems to be an issue with the service whm is receiving from Amsterdam and I really think it needs to be addressed, as the problems I am receiving seems to be on a bigger scale and is happening to others, it needs a fix to keep cusotmers happy and not to be brushed aside.

I would love to hear from anyone else having similar issues, the ip my servers are hosted on is: 85.17.251.29

Last of all, I sent another support ticket in today regarding this, only to be told the service was running fine, its the same old story

    Hello,

First of all thanks for bringing this to our attention. We keep track all of the server related complaints and additional investigation is carried out once we get a few from different customers. Some of the minor issues may not be detected by the monitoring system. But it sure needs investigating when a problem happens regularly.

I'll have our technical team to keep a closer look on the server. If you face the same problem again, please feel free to open a live chat or support ticket as well as update this thread with the exact time it happened.

    Thanks again for your help.

    Hi sirrocky

I'm on the same server and to have been frustrated with time outs and server downtime. I hate sitting there watching that little circle go round and round on the browser counting how long the site takes to load.. lol
Amsterdam is not the greatest place in my mind to host a server.
I spend a lot of time at my computer at different times of the night and day, it is frustrating when your working away on your website and one minute it's running rapid then for no apparent reason the service seems to slow to a hault?
To be quite honest i have my clients websites on different providers and wanted to combine all in one place but i'm not moving them for now until i'm happy with the servers.
Don't get me wrong i still think WHB is a good choice price wise and for support, and i don't forget all other hosting companies have the same kind of problems especially on shared servers.
If i ever do find a web hosting company that doesn't have issues then i know i've died and gone to web hosting heaven.. lol
Computers and servers are just like people when you think about it... we all have our bad days and good days depending on events that surround us.
One more point i'd like to make is computers are only as good as the people who use them, and unfortunatley you do get some Dipsticks hoggin resources running scripts that take a lot of server time when they don't actaully knopw what they are doing.
Such is the nature of hosting.

    Regards
    Steve

    Hello Steve,

    Thanks for your input.

Actually Amsterdam is thought to be serving the best connectivity to everywhere in Europe. And we have never noticed any major network outages in our data center.

The issue you are reporting must be caused by temporary load bursts. Please let the technical team know next time it happens. We'll do our best to track the cause of this problem.

    Hi once again Maxim
There's a bloody great stretch of water between us and Amsterdam lol
Only good thing about Amsterdam is Tulips, canals and windmills lol
As Sirrocky said it seems to be early morning mostly but even when i'm working late after midnight into the ealy hours it suddenly just slows down severly.
I even had a message saying "The MySQL server has gone away" a couple of weeks ago (which made me laugh) but it could happen at anytime really.
I usually just go make a cuppa tea till it sorts itself out which it always does.
    Just a note though...
Seems to be a lot of hosting companies being targeted at the moment from injection and Dos attacks. i had an attack through the ticket system in WHMCS from Algeria only the other day, but didn't have any effect because of moving files and latest release.

    Regards
    Steve

Can you open a support ticket on our HelpDesk next time it happens?
I'll have technicians additionally investigate the problem when we get your or anyone else's complaint on ukrs2 server.

    Default Me too!

I see timeouts occasionally, but they typically start working again before I open a trouble ticket.

Most often I get the time out when I'm trying to open the Web Host Manager control panel from the cpanel. Right now I can't get in at all.

"The server at whm.libertyhost.net is taking too long to respond."

    I'll open a trouble ticket.

I think I figured out my problem, or at least a way around it. I was trying to open WHM via a link in cpanel. I think the link is wrong. Instead I went to webhostingbuzz.com, logged in via the client portal, under services I found a button to open WHM. It opened right up from there. Instead of going to whm.myurlname.xxx it went to a port at rs14.abstractdns.com

Either the whm.myurlname.xxx is just plain old wrong, or dns is somehow broken?

If I start at myurlname.xxx/cpanel instead of cpanel.myurlname.xxx all the link to whm correctly works.

Default Problem is back and its worse

Now my main site (libertyhost.net) and all the sites that I manage are timing out. I don't know what server I'm on. I've opened a trouble ticket.

As an update to others who may think their site is down, try Website Monitor > Website Monitoring Service > Web Site Monitoring Service to check the site. I can't reach my sites at all from here in NJ. That site shows them to be up, but somewhat slow to respond (I think), it shows page load times that vary from 4 to 9 seconds. In comparison to other pages (not owned by me) that I've tried these numbers seem somewhat high, but truthfully I'm not sure how read the results of this page. WHB is transferring me to a different server, hopefully this solves my problem. It may however be out of their control and more due to the route traveled from their servers to me in NJ?

I too have had times when I couldn't reach my site but could see plainly it was up for everyone else. Last time I think I fixed it by forcing an IP change from Comcast.

No need to pay a monitoring service. Down For Everyone Or Just Me -> Check if your website is down or up? , Is my forum down

Thx for your imput Moby, glad to see its not only me on this ip, its just as you said, when it happens, you go make a cup of tea and by the time you come back its pretty much sorted, however its still very frustrating when your working on something and it happens. Since my post above, it has happened a number of times, but its pointless me sending a support ticket as by the time WHB takes a look at the problem, it would have corrected itself.

Could it be an overload of clients on the same box causing it to slow down and time out during peek hours which in this case would be mornings?

    Alex,

Shows a login page for Joomla that loads fast here, although techs are looking for an underlying problem. Can you post a traceroute?

In Windows you can run a traceroute by opening a cmd prompt and typing "tracert mysite.com". But it's difficult to copy anything from that window with any kind of decent formatting. Instead, try an internet tool such as http://network-tools.com.
    TraceRoute to 85.17.251.2 [www.anarchy-hosting.com]
