    Default Deceptive sales practice. BEWARE!

After looking at the sales page and then going thru the ordering process for the monthly special, I found out after several unsuccessful go-arounds with tech support that they only offer 5 domains with an annual prepaid account, but you have to dig thru the fine print in the TOS before you discover this. After bringing this to their attention, they just kept referring to their TOS and never admitted that their sales page was deceptive. The upshot: Their TOS contradicts the ordering page, so BUYER BEWARE.

Deceptive? You mean to tell me you don't read the TOS BEFORE you order?

You know, I just checked the ordering page, and what a surprise:

    July Special
    Free Domains For Life
    05

    What's so deceptive about that?

    I agree.

But I don't get their "only one free domain registration allowed a month" policy.

I made a suggestion to them, I hope they will reconsider their policy as a respect for their customers:

I don't think it's a matter of respect, nor are they "treating your customers childishly" as you wrote in your other post. They're trying to avoid being stung. I would go further and provide free domains only if a certain number of months were prepaid for the hosting.

I prepaid for that July Special plan for 24 months.

They are offered on yearly and onward payments but this has always been the case.

I would be interested to hear back from tonnes (thread starter) and discuss this in person but so far no luck.

If you pay on monthly payments you get a free domain per _YEAR_.

What the hell is that? And its not even stated on the website!

Please read the website carefully. It is clearly stated there and not only that its also clearly mentioned in our Terms of Service.

This is a service we offer as a courtesy (keeping in the mind the domain registration costs to WebHostingBuzz) and not as a right. We cannot be held responsible if the client fails to read and understand the Terms of Service before signing up.

Section 10 explains it all. I do not understand your point.

Hmm, I think you should restate Section 10, Section 11 protects WHB from abusers already. I really also dont see the point of 1domain/month for budget hosting since WHB is offering 1yr payment now.

I also think that you adjust the domain fee on a 30-day cancelling clients instead of charging $15 transfer fee on OLD clients, I personally think that the $15 transfer fee is too much. I pay for registration/renewal domains for $8, if I transfer that's a loss of like $7/domain, so if ever I decided to separate from WHB I'd be losing $70 per silver account. But I'm not worried, if WHB keeps on living up their standards, who wants to transfer anyway right? So still, cheers to WHB!

Question: I noticed WHB registers thru namecheap, I also register my domains thru there, can't WHB just push it to me if I decided to separate? heh

Here's a real simple solution, just buy a domain name from a company like Godaddy, it's cheap and would avoid all the grief you may experience.

I understand this policy more for the shared accounts then the reseller accounts...

When your a reseller.. lets say if your going to offer a special for your clients.. (Free domain w/ a 12 month purhcase, ect..)... what happens if you have 6-7 clients buy a year package one month? You would have to Tell the last two they needs to wait until next month for their free doman name?

I understand more under the shared accounts, where it is one "owner" using the services, but when your a reseller, reselling to clients, the 5 limits do not make sense to me.

Resell - sell (something) again after having bought it.

The free domains are a bonus. In this case, you don't get them all at once. Think of it like a $50 rebate you might get with a printer. You don't always get it at the time of purchase.

It is very clear on the reseller page, if you hover your mouse over "FREE Domain Registrations."

I NEVER said it wasn't clear. What I said was I didnt understand it as much for the reseller accounts.

I'd like to "open" a reseller account and resell the services, However I'd like to offer a free domain special to my potential clients with their packages also. And WBH's limit to this for the reseller accounts is one thing that is holding me back from making my decission to go with them for my reseller package(s)

    As for this..
[QUOTE=Thomas T;4625]. Think of it like a $50 rebate you might get with a printer. You don't always get it at the time of purchase.[QUOTE]

How does this even remotely compare to what the domain policy is? If you want to talk about a printer and a rebate.. lets compare... Yours wasnt fair. Not being able to create as many domains as a re-SELLER as your CLIENTS PURCHASE per month.. Would be like BUYING a new printer from a store, but only being allowed to PRINT 5 PAGES per month, as thats as many sheets of paper that the store was allowed to sell per month.

If the store had already sold 5 that month, and you wanted to buy one.. Would it be too bad you have to come back or wait until next month until they are allowed their 5 additional sheets of paper again? How could you use this to run a business/make money?

THATS why it DOESNT MAKE SENSE to ME.
