I am also a programmer and facing same problem. I had a time when I had to do same coding and creating flash files twice. Now I found a tool that can easily make flash websites. You just need to edit html coding, Meta tag, text, title of the page etc. for more info. Go here A4DeskPro Flash Website Builder

I beg of you: Please do not make flash intensive websites!

They are a nightmare for SEO, accessibility, and of course to update! Not to mention they have performance issues.

I know this may be slightly off-topic, but I would strongly recommend, as a web developer, that you seriously investigate whether these websites need to have so much flash, and whether you can just use CSS/PHP!

I can also recommend A4DeskPro. Also, rombla is nice but probably not what you're looking for.

I'd also like to echo omniuni's sentiments. Most of my clients are now upgraded to Linux 64-bit systems for their development and server platforms. Flash for 64-bit linux is very unstable, and most people uninstall it. While emulating 32-bit works for some, it's not a viable solution for most of my clients. Additionally, SEO is a PAIN with flash. It's possible, assuming that all text is also available in the html code, but it's a pain.

My motto: Only make flash sites when a client demands it, and even then, make sure they understand the pitfalls.

I could be wrong but I think Google can read .swf files HOWEVER nothing beats the plain .html

As the posters suggested, make flash only if the client understands what he or she can expect out of it.

    Saf is absolutely correct.
Yes, Google can read flash sites: http://googlewebmastercentral.blogsp...-indexing.html
Yes, Yahoo can read flash sites: http://www.searchengineworld.com/seo/3458002.htm

They achieve this by simulating a user clicking through internal pages on your flash sites, but note that they had to have Adobe's help to do this.
Adobe developers are great people, but not very well funded or plentiful for more bleeding-edge architectures (in my experience). Their support for them has historically been lacking. As Adobe makes new releases and technology, the client must update their flash system. That means that they must work with Google and Yahoo again to implement new text readers, and they must work with the developers to support more platforms. Historically, they will make a new version of the plugin (only for Windows 32-bit browsers). Months later, 64-bit browser support is released. Then, the search engines are able to recognize the updated features. Many more months later, and 64-bit linux users are still having issues. Don't get me wrong, java applets are the same way for us lowly 64-bit linux users. Unfortunately, we're stuck with nspluginwrapper and openjdk/icedtea to do our bidding. Hopefully those projects will continue to mature and stabilize.

I agree with the one comment, do not make an intensive flash website, or you will never find your website on the search engines. Just use a little bit of flash, but with plenty of text. I personally prefer Swish instead of flash, it is much easier, quicker, and has the same options. Also it is less money than flash.

Flash websites are not good. You can use flash for some parts but you have to do sites that are crawlable by search engines.
